Q&A with Nuska Junaid
We asked Nuska, an alumna of ISR ’23 and a Marketing student at the University of York, to share her story with our community. We’re excited to have her as our amazing tutor! 🌟
Q: What profession are you working towards?
A: I am hoping to eventually work at either a book publishing or makeup company in charge of marketing and making fun advertisements.
Q: How did your time at ISR prepare you for university and beyond?
A: The preparation and work I did at ISR has immensely helped me in my first year of Uni. I had a headstart since I knew how to formulate essays, and did well in my modules compared to some of my peers who had not done IB.
Q: What’s a mistake you made as a student that taught you an important lesson?
A: Procrastination. As an IB student, procrastination is the one thing that will catch up to you later. With the heavy workload including EE, IA’s and CAS, it’s important to be on top of things so you don’t end up pulling all-nighters before your deadlines.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school, and why?
A: My favorite subject was business. I have been interested in the subject and had been wanting to pursue it as a career (marketing specifically) for a while. I found the lessons fun, interesting and dynamic, and had a great time in the classes with my peers and teacher.
Q: What’s one thing you appreciated the most about ISR?
A: I appreciated the sense of community that was formed within ISR. Since we were a small cohort, everyone knew each other well. I also appreciated the services, materials, and support that was provided to students. It definitely helped me during my school years, and I wouldn’t be where I am now, without that added support.
Q: What motivates you to keep learning and growing?
A: Being the first person in my family to get into university is definitely motivating. To see my future become reality is also a factor that motivates me to learn and grow.
Q: What’s one thing you’re looking forward to as a GradTutor tutor?
A: I’m looking forward to meeting the students, sharing the tips I have learned, and making their learning experience more enjoyable!
