Q: What extracurricular activity significantly shaped who you are today? How did it shape you?
A: I would probably say volleyball, as I now spend a lot time playing the sport, and it has taught me valuable life lessons in teamwork, shared losses, and shared wins. It made me grow as an individual and as a team member.

Q: What subject felt the hardest for you? How did you master it?
A: I struggled the most with German Literature, despite it being my mother tongue. Yet, by always incorporating my teachers’ feedback and focusing on one key aspect at a time, I gradually improved. However, it took me two years, which taught me that progress usually doesn’t happen instantly or easily, rather with a lot of patience and persistence.

Q: What’s a mistake you made as a student that taught you an important lesson?
A: My biggest flaw was being convinced that I had to do every task perfectly, read every passage, focus on every detail, which ultimately made we feel overwhelmed. I was constantly exhausted, but after some reflection, I learned to focus on the essential content.

Q: How do you stay motivated in overwhelming situations?
A: The IB program proved to be especially demanding, yet I stayed focused on the final goal and reminded myself that easier, less stressful times would come. It was also essential to maintain a good school-life balance, and extracurricular activities, including physical ones, helped me achieve that.

Q: What felt particularly difficult for you in high-school?
A: Throughout high school I struggled to find the right study technique. Everyone had different approaches to learning, which meant there was no one-size-fits-all solution. It took time and a trial-and-error approach to discover what worked for me. During that period, my academic performance didn’t meet my own expectations. I eventually found effective methods, which was reflected in my classroom accomplishments.
