Q&A with Mona Kuribayashi
Mona, ISR ’21 alumna, classical pianist and Co-Founder of GradTutor, shares about her challenges, journey, and tips for success! 🌟 (Part 1/2)
Q: What profession are you working towards? Why did you choose this goal?
A: I am working towards becoming both a pianist and a businesswoman. I chose these goals because they allow me to work on both my creative and business side, which challenge me the most to grow.
Q: How did your time at ISR prepare you for university and beyond?
A: Since joining ISR in 4th grade, I’ve learned English and German, made amazing friends from different backgrounds, and gained skills like time management, independence, and exam preparation. ISR shaped who I am today. The classmates, teachers and community taught me values and perspectives I live by and gave me the confidence to succeed in life!
Q: What motivates you to keep learning and growing?
A: My friends and family motivate me. Surrounding myself with people who are constantly striving to grow inspires me to keep improving and learning as well!
Q: What advice would you give your high-school self?
A: Spend quality time with friends, explore the world around you, and develop new skills! Take the time to discover what excites you and what doesn’t.
Q: How do you stay motivated in overwhelming situations?
A: Surrounding myself with motivated and like-minded people. Also, taking a break at times 🙂
Q: What makes you want to tutor?
A: My experience when I first moved to Germany motivates me to tutor. Having experienced this challenge firsthand, I want to help students facing similar situations and make their journey a little easier.
Q: What is something you teach all your students?
A: I teach all my students that nothing is impossible as long as you put in the effort. With hard work and determination, they can achieve their goals.
